Why I Love Residence Inn #travel

Disclosure: I received a gift card in exchange for my honest review.
This past weekend, I took a road trip with my husband to Irving, Texas, and I had the pleasure of staying in the Residence Inn. This one-bedroom suite "hotel room" was far from just a room. It was more like an apartment and I remarked several times over the weekend to my husband that I could live there comfortably. Just look at that beautiful, serene bedroom!
The room has distinct living areas - bedroom, bathroom, living room with desk area, kitchen, and dining area. The sofa in the living room opens up into a queen size bed if an extra bed is needed. There's also a coffee table and even an ottoman that tucks perfectly under the coffee table when not in use. Both the bedroom and living room have a tv with cable channels. There are plentiful electrical outlets and trashcans throughout the suite.
There are lots of great touches that make it feel more like home...shelves on the walls for my stuff, a coat hook by the door, even a key hook so I can find my keys in a hurry. The desk in my room faced the window and offered tons of surface area and even a built-in power strip for all my electronics. Residence Inn even offers free wifi!
Residence Inn is even pet-friendly! Buddy got to take his first-ever road trip and was immediately at home there. When we checked in, the front desk staff wanted to pet him and even gave him some dog treats that they keep behind the desk. There is a one-time pet cleaning fee, but it costs less than three nights in the kennel back home, and I'd rather have Buddy with me.
There is a full kitchen with full-size, stainless steel appliances...stove, fridge, and dishwasher. The sink even offers a disposal. There's a 12-cup coffee pot too! Inside the cabinets are dishes, silverware, glasses, and more. They even provide the dishwasher soap. There was a stash of coffee and popcorn too.
On the stove was a set of pots and pans and on the countertop was a utensil holder filled with cooking and serving utensils. There were kitchen washcloths available and a roll of paper towels under the sink. There is even a shopping list card that guests can fill out and give to the front desk so they can fill your fridge with food!
The decor in the room is simply gorgeous. I love the color theme and how it resonated through the entire apartment. Everything was made of high quality building materials like wood cabinets, tile floors, and granite counters. Seriously, I could live here!
The furniture is comfortable and high-quality. I love all the attention to detail in the suite. The suite is around 500sf in size, so it's plenty of room even with an 85-pound dog. I've stayed in a few ritzy five-star hotels before, but this Residence Inn suite is nicer and more comfortable than any of them. I would easily give it five stars.
The bathroom vanity area was very roomy, with more shelves for my things, lots of drawers, great lighting, and again created from high quality building materials. Residence Inn provides shampoo, conditioner, face soap, bath soap, facial tissues, and super fluffy cotton towels. Every inch of every room was also impeccably clean.
The tub/shower and toilet are in a separate room, next to the vanity area. The water pressure in the shower is absolutely perfect. Of course, they also offer maid service too. It also comes with FREE hot breakfast in the restaurant area near the lobby, which also features a gathering area of couches and a television. A couple times a week, they sponsor a mixer too so you can meet other guests. My husband and I are so impressed with Residence Inn!
This hotel also has an indoor swimming pool, a whirlpool, fitness machines, and an outdoor basketball court. The front desk staff is some of the best in the business - genuine, professional, friendly, and helpful. Best of all, the rate for my gorgeous, comfortable, one-bedroom suite was only $129 per night!
Book your stay at Residence Inn!

Bobee - Creative Home Decor Designs for Children

Disclosure: I received compensation in exchange for my post.
I love the delicate, playful look of paper lanterns. These paper lanterns from Bobee are the perfect touch for birthday celebrations, baby showers, or any special occasion. Hang them over the gift table, the food table, or in the window. These colorful paper lanterns are also a great way to add some pop to a child's room, baby nursery, or playroom! Their light, airy design is reminiscent of a balloon, but will last much longer. Children are naturally drawn to circles and your baby or toddler will love watching the paper lanterns dance every time the air moves.
Bobee also makes soft pastel wall decals. From sweet elephants to colored dots, these designs allow you to add some visual interest to nearly any surface. Put them on the walls, the diaper pail, lampshades, furniture, toy bins, windows, and mirrors. These vinyl peel-and-stick decals make decorating easy and quick. Aren't the elephants adorable?
The Bobee Diaper and Wipe Dispenser is a genius idea. It mounts on the wall directly above the changing table so you can grab what you need with one hand, while you hang on to your wiggly baby with the other hand. How I wish I had one of these all those years I ran a childcare! It holds all sizes and brands of disposable diapers. You'll have everything within reach during diaper changes. A Pumpkin Dessert Everyone Will Love #recipe

Disclosure: I received compensation in exchange for this guest post by Kristin Beischel.
For as much as I love sweets, pumpkin pie never really did it for me. As I was thinking about recipes for Thanksgiving, I said to myself, “why don’t we just skip pumpkin pie?” Pre-baking the pie crust, making the pumpkin custard, baking the pie… it seems like a lot of steps. Will anyone miss it? Probably not, once they try this Pumpkin Cake with Maple Cream Cheese Frosting! At Bake Like A Champ, we like to make refined desserts in a really simple way. Who says you have to skimp on gourmet treats just because you don’t want to spend all day in the kitchen?

Here’s the other amazing part: the recipe makes enough for one cake and four cupcakes. It’s genius. I didn’t feel like doing all the math to cut the recipe by 2/3, so I realized no one is going to complain when they get a few cupcakes for themselves! Here’s how I made it…

We butter and flour our cake pan and line our cupcake pan with 4 liners. Don’t forget to line your cake pan with parchment. It will make it much easier to get out!
While the butter and sugars are mixing, we sift the dry ingredients together. If you don’t have a sifter, that’s okay. Just make sure there are no lumps in there.
The butter and sugars mix together for a few minutes until it looks light and fluffy like this:
We add the eggs so it gets even fluffier…
Then we mix in the dry ingredients…
And last in is the pumpkin before we spread into the pans. Into the oven they go!
How much do you love that we get to keep the cupcakes for ourselves?! I mean, I guess you could give them away, but who wants to do that? The big cake will go on the Thanksgiving dessert table for everyone to enjoy.
I don’t think anyone will miss pumpkin pie this year. Especially me, because this was so much easier!

Pumpkin Cake With Maple Cream Cheese Frosting

Adapted from David Leite
Yield: 1 9-inch cake AND 4 cupcakes

Cake
1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature, plus more for greasing pan
1 cup firmly packed dark-brown sugar
1/3 cup granulated sugar
2 cups cake flour (or if you don’t have cake flour: 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour + ¼ cup cornstarch)
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 large eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk mixed with 1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/4 cups canned solid-pack pumpkin

Frosting
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature
3 cups confectioners’ sugar
3 tablespoons pure maple syrup

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Butter and flour a 9-inch circle, 8x8, or 9x9 cake pan. Line the bottom with parchment paper. Additionally, line a cupcake pan with 4 liners.
  2. In a stand mixer, beat the butter and sugars on medium speed until fluffy, about 5 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, salt, and pepper into a medium bowl.
  4. Add eggs, one at a time, to the mixer, scraping down the sides after each addition.
  5. Alternate adding the flour and milk mixtures, beginning and ending with the flour.
  6. Beat in the pumpkin until smooth.
  7. Scoop the batter into the 4 cupcake liners. I use a large ice cream scoop to make it easy, but you’re looking to get them 3/4 full. Scoop the rest of the batter into the cake pan.
  8. Insert the cupcake pan and cake pans into the oven. Bake the cupcakes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 20 to 25 minutes. The cake will take a bit longer, 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. In a stand mixer beat all the ingredients on medium until fluffy. Frost the tops of each cupcake and the cake, swirling decoratively.

I'm giving away the
American Tourister Disney Mickey Mouse Luggage!
(ARV $139.99)
Traveling is so much more fun with my new Mickey Mouse luggage from American Tourister! This softside 28" suitcase is packed with features and is large enough to hold enough clothes for up to two weeks of travel. The Mickey Multiface pattern makes it super easy to spot, even on a full airport luggage carousel.
It has a handle extension so I can pull it easily, or I can choose to carry it with one of two soft, sturdy carry handles on the top and on the side. The outside features multiple zipper pockets and the interior features another zipper pocket plus deep side pockets.
There are elastic straps inside to secure all my folded clothes in place. I'm amazed at the incredible roominess! My husband and I take lots of weekend road trips and now we're both able to pack everything we take into just one suitcase.
I also noticed this suitcase is slightly wider at the base where the wheels are attached, preventing it from tipping over when it's completely packed. The soft, comfortable carry handles make easy work of carrying and lifting this luggage.
The spinner wheels are spectacular. They spin 360 degrees, which means I can pull it at an angle or push it vertically, without running into anything else. Everything on this high quality suitcase is so carefully constructed. And who doesn't love Mickey Mouse?
American Tourister even includes a pocket on the back for an identification card and a blank tag to fill in contact information. There are so many wonderful things about the Mickey Spinner Multiface! While other travelers are frowning and grumbling about wait times, bad service, and cramped legs, my Mickey Mouse suitcase always makes me smile.
American Tourister has a fabulous collection of Disney luggage, including Mickey, Minnie, Star Wars, Frozen, Cars, Sohpia the First, and Disney Princesses. They come in lots of sizes for both adults and kids! Where will you take Mickey?
