My Weekend at Lakeway Resort and Spa - Austin, Texas #travel

Disclosure: I was provided accommodations and services at no charge in exchange for my honest review.
In the hustle and bustle of the holiday season now upon us, it's good to sneak away for a weekend. My husband and I drove out last weekend to the Lakeway Resort and Spa, nestled in the hill country of central Texas. It's just west of Austin, so it was about an hour's drive for us.
The resort sits on the shores of Lake Travis and offers tons of amenities to enjoy! It's a great place for a short getaway or a long family vacation. They have facilities that are perfect for weddings, conventions, reunions, and much more.
The entire property is just beautiful, even under the cloudy skies of our rainy weekend. What better place to be stuck inside than a beautiful hotel room with a view of the lake, with even a spa to grab a massage?
The entire resort has recently been renovated and the beauty of Texas certainly shows in the decor of stone, wood, and even a few touches of the old west. The staff at Lakeway Resort and Spa treated us like royalty the entire time we were there.
Our hotel room was beautiful, with blue-grey decor that mimicked the gentle waves of Lake Travis. Even the art of the walls featured wavy lines. Our room featured a king-size bed, a sitting area and a desk area. I loved the full-pressure shower-head installed in the bathroom.
Lakeway Resort and Spa also offers valet parking and room service if you desire a weekend experience of complete luxury. There is so much to do at Lakeway Resort and Spa that I actually watched the hotel channel to see what they offered!
Along the far window of our hotel room was a sliding glass door out onto a private balcony that overlooks Lake Travis. The resort sits on a small peninsula so we could see the shoreline on the other side and wistfully wish we owned one of those houses. Although it was overcast, the temperature was perfect for being outside when it wasn't raining.
I'm guessing when the weather is nicer, this part of the lake is filled with boats, water skis, and jet skis. It's a bit sad to see how low Lake Travis levels are because of the drought. We could see the normal water line across the lake.
Photos just can't do justice to the beautiful, expansive view of Lake Travis from the private balcony in our room. Check out the video I made on my new Samsung Galaxy Tab S of the view:

We wandered around inside the resort and found this delightful little library on the fifth floor. What a cozy spot to curl up and enjoy a book!
We walked around outside, under the booming thunder and threat of rain to grab some great shots of the views from the resort. The building to the left features a huge events room with walls of windows that look out over the lake.
From the same balcony, we could see below to the water fun area. The pool complex features three swimming pools, a swim-up bar, heated whirlpool with stunning lake views, outdoor pool deck with cabanas and lots of lounge chairs.
The Sunset Pool is the ideal spot for adults-only relaxation. Beautifully designed with three tiers, small group coves, and even a swim-up bar. With thunder and lightning overhead, we missed out on enjoying the pools so we'll have to sneak away another weekend to visit again.
Adjacent to Lakeway Resort and Spa is the Lakeway Marina, where guests can enjoy lots of boating activities. Texas Sailing will even hook you up with some sailboat fun! Fishing is also great on Lake Travis, especially for white bass, stripers, crappie, and catfish.
The building to the left in the photo below is the restaurant Masterson's and features windows that also overlook the lake. We enjoyed both brunch and dinner there and were pleased both times. Their service is excellent and their food is delicious. Dinner featured an amazing lightning show over the lake through the large windows!
Here's a few more shots I took from one of their patios:

The room below is called the Back Porch and it includes this room as well as a large outdoor patio that also overlooks the lake. This is where we enjoyed a Saturday Happy Hour featuring free wines, beer, and scrumptious appetizers including some incredible fried mushrooms. I love the chandelier!
As you can see in the photo below, the skies finally let loose and the rains came down hard, pretty much all day and all night. Lakeway Resort and Spa has covered walkways so that we could still wander around outside.
Here's the front of the restaurant:

The restaurant has plenty of space for large groups and the wait staff is wonderful.
The San Saba Spa is one of my favorite spots at Lakeway Resort and Spa! I had an appointment for a Saturday afternoon Hot Stone Massage. I met with Alecia, the director of spa and recreation and she showed me around the entire spa.
We ended up chatting for about 30 minutes and she's such a warm, wonderful person. The spa offers massage, facials, nail services, hair services, makeup, wraps, scrubs and more.
The San Saba Spa is beautiful and serene. I was amazed at the range of massage services they offer, including deep tissue massage, swedish, aromatherapy, river rock massage, reflexology, mother to be massage, and more.
This is where I waited for my massage, after changing into my spa robe in the women's locker room. The locker room also features showers and a sauna, both of which I enjoyed after my massage. I love the lake view and that chandelier is incredible!
The waiting room also featured healthy snacks and lime water, plus an outdoor patio (for when it's not pouring rain). There's even a men's waiting room a bit further down the hallway with the same amenities.
And here's the site of my amazing Colorado River Rock hot stone massage. Jason was my massage therapist and he is an expert is massage therapy. This room is just one of many in the San Saba Spa where all your stresses can melt away!
I'm am so impressed with Lakeway Resort and Spa and we are definitely going to visit again some day when the sun is shining so we can experience all the outdoor fun too. I definitely recommend you visit!
