Make Homemade Peanut Butter with Nostalgia Electrics

Disclosure: I received the Nostalgia Electrics Peanut Butter Maker at no charge in exchange for my honest review.
My newest kitchen toy (ahem, tool) is SO MUCH FUN. The Peanut Butter Maker from Nostalgia Electrics makes it so simple to make homemade peanut butter at home. With just three ingredients (peanuts, oil, and honey) and about ten minutes of time, I made fresh, delicious, healthy peanut butter with no preservatives!
The detailed instructions and recipe booklet that comes included with the Peanut Butter Maker encouraged me to use chopped peanuts, but I figured smashed was close enough. I put them in a plastic bag and used my rolling pin to crush them down.
Then I added about a cup of peanut pieces to the top bin, filled the squirt bulb with Canola Oil and turned the Peanut Butter Maker on. The squirt bulb fits into a tube that can be used to move the peanuts around as the number of peanuts in the top bin gets low.
This is so easy to use that I would certainly recommend it for use with children's groups for a fun activity. My mom was in town last week for the boys' high school graduation and we had a blast making peanut butter. Mom eats lots of peanut butter so I think I see a gift idea in her future!
The fresh peanut butter squishes out the spout and into the included cup (the "jar"). Since any type of nut can be used, the ideas for nutter butter are endless! We have plenty of nuts around my house anyways. HA!
I added a tablespoon of honey to the peanut butter and used a fork to mix it all together. Then it was time to do the big taste test. Since Mom is a peanut butter lover, she was the perfect victim (um, tester) for me to offer the first taste.
Since there are no preservatives in the peanut butter, it's best to keep it in the refrigerator instead of a pantry shelf. There is even an included lid for the peanut butter "jar." We spread some homemade peanut butter on crackers.
Mom and I both LOVED the homemade honey peanut butter! We shared with my husband and the boys too and everyone gave it a thumbs-up. I can't wait to make different recipes and try some more. Cleaning the Peanut Butter Maker is simple too, although I'd love to see Nostalgia Electrics include a small cleaning brush that easily fits into the spout.

  1. It was a lot of fun to make and really tasted good. Mom (Gramma Joyce)

  2. It does look like fun. Can you imagine all the butters you can make?! yum! Enjoy!

  3. I'd love this! Of course it would be fun with the grands, but Hubz and I would love it just to have a bit of peanut butter occasionally.
