Independent films don't often get the attention they deserve. IndieFlix has set out to correct that, by providing a subscription-based online service that let's you watch thousands of independently made films. You can sort on many categories including genre, length, most-viewed, film festival, or country. It was launched to help get independent filmmakers more attention and more money, with a unique revenue-sharing model that ensures that the filmmakers get the cut they deserve. This month, IndieFlix presents Finding Kind, a documentary about girl-against-girl bullying that ultimately became Kind Campaign, an internationally recognized movement, documentary, and school assembly program based on the powerful belief in kindness that brings awareness and healing to the negative and lasting effects.
As I sat and watched Lauren Parsekian (Director/Writer/Producer) and Molly Thompson (Producer) talk with girls across the nation, I was struck by the magnitude of emotional problems that girl-bullying causes to everyone. I love their honest approach and the program they have developed to reach into the schools to talk to girls. I was reminded several times as I watched the film about my own experiences being picked on in school and how freshly the pain can resurface even after many years. As we become mothers of daughters it's even more important that we strive to be kind and teach kindness. I hope you'll enter the giveaway below to win yourself a two-month subscription to IndieFlix and I hope you'll take some time to learn more about Finding Kind.
