Marriage...The Good Stuff

I've been married since June 2001. It's actually my third marriage. Third time's a charm, huh? I feel so blessed to be married to Johnny. We have a great marriage and sometimes I wonder if other people are as happy, and as lucky. I think one of the reasons we're so good together is because both of us never stop trying to make the other one happy. He is, and has been, the best dad to my kids. He has loved my two children just as much as he loves his own son. He is someone to admire and to respect. We have fun together and we make each other laugh. We listen and we pray.
If you're looking for some fun ideas to spice up your marriage a bit, here are some tips that I've found work to bring some light into our lives together.
  1. Make sure your goodbye kiss in the morning is a nice long kiss, with both arms around the other one and nothing else in your hands. Follow it by a hug, you know, the kind where it feels so good when the other one hugs you a bit tighter and closer. Do this every day.
  2. Play a board game together. Or a card game. Or play pool. Just you two. No electronic games. Once a week. Have a special snack available on the table that you both like. Something simple. Seasoned crackers, popcorn, something that doesn't take preparation. At your own home. Just you two.
  3. Surprise him with a new pair of silk boxers to sleep in. Surprise him by wearing some flirty new sleepwear to bed. Surprise her with a foot massage offer once she's in bed.
  4. Take a shower together. Soap each other up. Wash each other's hair. Towel each other off. Give each other a back rub with lotion.
  5. Snuggle on the couch together. Lay down, and snuggle together. Five minutes a day. We like to do this at lunch. Go home for lunch every day, if you can. He works just ten minutes from here. Another blessing.
I think, what I'm really trying to say is, FOCUS ON EACH OTHER.
Marriage...The Good Stuff.
