Did you know that Gorton's Seafood has 20 seafood options with 200 calories or less per serving? I think that's fantastic! My family loves seafood and I decided we were going to have a shrimp-fest right here at home. I stopped by the store and picked up Popcorn Shrimp, Shrimp Poppers, Garlic Butter Shrimp Scampi, Lemon Butter Shrimp Scampi, and Classic Grilled Shrimp.
Gorton's sent me two branded oven mitts, a spatula and an apron to help me get dinner ready. My husband wandered into the kitchen when I was starting to make dinner, so I recruited him to help me. I prepared the three oven-destined shrimp delights, while he prepared the two shrimp scampi delights on the stovetop.
Gorton's Seafood makes it SO easy to make seafood at home. All I had to do was throw some foil on a cookie sheet, dump the frozen shrimp on top, and heat at 425 degrees F for 15 minutes. Yes, even the Grilled Shrimp can be oven-baked.
Even the scampi entrees were easy to make. All it takes is to add the shrimp to the skillet with some water and simmer for about ten minutes. Can you believe the scampi meals are only 120 calories per serving?
In less than 20 minutes our entire dinner was made and ready to serve. We decided that since we were having a shrimp-fest, we really didn't need to make side dishes or bread. After all, in order to really appreciate all-you-can-eat shrimp, it's best not to fill up on other foods.
My husband was easily convinced into modeling the apron and oven mitt for me, especially since we don't often eat shrimp at home. Honestly, I was really surprised at how inexpensive these Gorton's seafood selections were at my grocery store.
My husband whipped up some quick cocktail sauce with ketchup and horseradish sauce for the Shrimp Poppers and Popcorn Shrimp, but the three other varieties came with their own sauces included. I served each one on a separate plate so everyone could make sure they tried all of them.
After gorging ourselves until we could eat no more, we all agreed that Gorton's shrimp entrees are definitely restaurant-quality. I'm not talking fast food quality; I'm talking expensive restaurant food quality! Our two favorites are the Garlic Butter Shrimp Scampi and the Classic Grilled Shrimp.
They are as delicious as they are beautiful. Knowing they are also healthy foods that are carefully prepared in the Gorton's kitchen means I can feel very good about serving them to my family. Plus my kids think I'm amazing that I can make such great shrimp. This will definitely be the first of many Gorton's shrimp-fests in our home!
