#SXSW HGTV, Paste Magazine, VEVO and BMG Chrysalis

If you've never heard of HGTV, you probably live under a rock. And that rock probably isn't decorated very well. If you haven't heard of SXSW, then it's time to come to Austin over the next week and discover it!
HGTV is returning to the premier pop culture event bringing the love of home into official performance spaces and throughout the city of Austin, Texas. During the annual party of original music, independent films and emerging technologies, HGTV is offering event-goers an opportunity to “relax and recharge” at its Wi-Fi benches throughout downtown Austin. SXSW attendees can stay connected with friends and family back home as they rest and recharge their mobile devices at the HGTV hotspots located at:

Austin Music Hall (208 Nueces St., March 8-16)
VEVO TV Control Room (304 W. 4th St., March 12-16)
HGTV and Paste Stages on Sixth (508 E. 6th St., March 13-16)
BMG Chrysalis Carnival on Rainey Street at the Blackheart Bar (86 Rainey St., March 15)

From March 9-16, the user-generated “Art on the Side” art wall will be on display at the iconic Austin Music Hall and at the corner of Trinity and 3rd Street for attendees to stop by and get creative. Each location’s “Art on the Side” wall will also consist of a custom mural designed by Texas-based, hybrid street style artist JM Rizzi.

From March 12-16, HGTV is joining forces with VEVO, the world’s leading all-premium music video and entertainment platform, to transform the popular Ghost Room venue into a custom-designed VEVO TV Control Room to showcase a hot line-up of live performances and events. The space, designed by HGTV HOME Studio interns and recent graduates, will function as a music venue, an exclusive after-hours VIP lounge, a beer garden and hang-out space with picnic tables, Ping-Pong games, and food and beverages. The VEVO TV Control Room will be located at 304 W. 4th St. between Lavaca and Guadalupe, and open from 2-6 p.m., 8 p.m. – 12:30 a.m. and other late night sessions. More information is available at www.vevo.com and via #VEVOSXSW on Twitter at @VEVO.

HGTV and Paste are also presenting The “Stages on Sixth” from March 13-16 at one of 6th Street's biggest music venues, The Stage on Sixth, where 44 bands will perform from noon to 6 p.m. each day. This year’s line-up includes festival favorites Billy Bragg, Buddy Miller and Jim Lauderdale, Josh Ritter and The Zombies, as well as newcomer CR Smith, winner of HGTV and Paste’s “Be The New Sound of HGTV Contest.” As part of his grand prize package, Smith will perform his contest-winning song, “This Way Home,” which was regularly featured on HGTV in 2012. More information on the line-up is available at www.pastemagazine.com and via #PasteSXSW on Twitter at @PasteMagazine.

Friday, March 15, HGTV is serving as an official sponsor of the BMG Chrysalis Carnival on Rainey Street at the well-known Blackheart Bar at 86 Rainey St. The event featuring some of BMG Chrysalis best – Hank and Cupcakes, Brother Dege, Mercy Brothers, The Features, Idle Warship Featuring Res and Talib Kweli and DIIV – includes a four-course Louisiana feast and features one of HGTV’s Wi-Fi bench hot spots.
Throughout the event, fans can keep tabs on HGTV’s activities by visiting hgtv.com/lovehome for event updates and by following and posting photos of their South by Southwest Conferences and Festivals experiences with #lovehome to HGTV’s Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.
