Aunt Sassy's Sauces - Recipe and Review

I could hardly wait to try Aunt Sassy Sauces. I love "the slightly naughty sauce" slogan! These sauces aren't really like any old barbecue sauce or hot sauce, or anything like I've ever tasted. They have a very distinct and delicious taste. Slightly sweet, slightly spicy, I guess you'd call them sassy! It's a sauce you can use on virtually anything...as a dip, a marinade, an ingredient, you name it. Another plus is that they are all natural.
Aunt Sassy also sent me a recipe card and I actually had all the other ingredients in my pantry. How crazy is that? Aunt Sassy's Nuts looked easy enough, so I preheated my oven to 300F and poured 2 cups of pecans into a large bowl.
Then I added two tablespoons of Aunt Sassy's Original Honey Sauce to the pecans and tossed the nuts with a wooden spoons until the sauce covered them well. I stuck a (clean) finger into the jar of sauce to see how it tasted...mmm...this stuff is gooooood.
I measured out 1/4 cup of brown sugar into a measuring cup, then broke up all the chunks of sugar with a fork so that it was nice and fluffy. Then I dumped that on top of the coated pecans.
I used my handy dandy sea salt grinder bottle to get the 3/4 teaspoons of fine grain sea salt that the recipe calls for. I wonder if sea salt was around when I was a kid?
I scooped out 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and leveled off the spoon with my finger, then promptly wiped my finger on my jeans (so if you noticed something brown on my jeans that day, it really was cinnamon). Then I stirred all the new ingredients in the bowl, making sure it was well dispersed throughout the pecans.
I didn't have parchment paper, so I grabbed wax paper. Next time I make these, I'll spray the cookie sheet with a bit of oil spray before I lay down the wax paper, because when it came time to clean up, the wax paper stuck to the cookie sheet. I put the pecans all over the cookie sheet, then baked them for 35 minutes. When my oven beeper beeped at me, I cooled the sheet on a wire rack, then used a spatula to move the cooled pecans to a storage container.
I have seriously never tasted such a delicious pecan! When my husband got home, he attacked the bowl of pecans. When the teenage boys got home, they helped themselves to handfuls as well. I guess it sounds "slightly naughty" but I love Aunt Sassy's Nuts!
For my lunch that day, I tried the Aunt Sassy's Cracked Pepper Sauce on my Nutrisystem quesadilla. This sauce is also absolutely delicious and tasted great on my lunch. I love finding new ways to enjoy my diet! Aunt Sassy's Sauces are available online, and you can connect with her on Facebook and Twitter too!
Disclosure: I received these products at no charge in exchange for my honest review.
