Russo's New York Pizzeria, Pflugerville TX - Review #dining #travel

Disclosure: I was provided dinner at no charge in exchange for my honest review.
Tucked into the Stone Hill Town Center in Pflugerville, Texas, you'll find Russo's New York Pizzeria. Don't let the name fool you though because they serve a lot more than just pizza! My husband and I ate at Russo's last week and met with Brad Davis, the managing partner, and his handsome young son.
Walking into Russo's, the first thing we noticed was the incredible pies in the pie case near the door. We were greeted by the smiling faces of the hostess and seated by Brad's son, who often helps out his dad around the restaurant.
Our friendly waiter, Drew, delivered absolutely delicious bread and seasoned oil, along with a menu that contained quite a few pages in a spiral booklet. He jokingly called it an encyclopedia because of the number of meals they have to offer. From pizza to pasta and everything in between, it took us a while to decide what to eat!
For our appetizer, we dined on the Roasted Prosciutto. It's a buffalo mozzarella that is wrapped in thinly sliced ham, battered and fried,  then served with a marinara sauce. It's incredibly delicious. Russo's offers a wide variety of appetizers, soups, and salads, along with their many meals and mouthwatering desserts.
We finally settled on a New York Village Pizza, mostly because it contained the toppings we usually like to eat on pizza - pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, black olives, bell peppers, Canadian bacon, hamburger and mozzarella cheese. I am a true pizza addict, but we've never had a pizza like this!
It's absolutely delicious, all the way down to the last bite of the crust. The toppings are all fresh, and the scrumptious crust is seasoned. It's not an overly thick crust that is made to be a filler, but rather it's both soft and crispy, and just enough to contain the mountain of toppings. It's baked to perfection in a brick oven. My husband, who rarely eats more than two pieces of pizza, actually ate four pieces.
Although we told ourselves to save room for dessert, somehow our tastebuds had other ideas. However, we ordered dessert anyway, deciding it was well worth feeling too full later. I ordered the Chocolate Italian Cream Cake and my husband ordered the Italian Cannoli -- both were amazing! He managed to finish his dessert, but I had to ask for a take home box. I stowed away 1/2 my cake, the last piece of pizza, the lettuce and tomatoes from the appetizer, and the leftover bread for lunch the next day (and it was delicious then too).
I can't wait to go back again. Since they offer about 15 different pizzas, plus a build-your-own pizza menu, we definitely must try some more combinations. Russo's even offers a gluten-free menu. I can't wait to try their pastas and calzones. Honestly, I'd have to say that Russo's is my new favorite restaurant! It's a great place for families and they offer a kids' menu too. Their service is fast and friendly. Be sure to ask for Drew -- he's a fabulous waiter!
