Review: Old London snacks

I've recently been on the prowl for good-for-me snacks. Now that I'm in my forties, losing weight just isn't as easy as it used to be. All my life, my weight has gone up and down like a roller coaster. I have a hypothyroid condition, which means my body does not process food correctly making it even harder to lose weight. I take a daily pill to help with the condition, but I also have to be choosy about what I eat.

I was invited to review a box of snacks from Old London and since I've never tasted their snacks before, I was really looking forward to it. I was sent four different products to try, Old London Spicy Cheddar Bagel Chips, Sesame Melba Toast, Roasted Garlic Melba Snacks, and Sea Salt Melba Snacks.
I love cheese, so I first opened up the Spicy Cheddar Bagel Chips. They are crunchy, crispy, cheesy, spicy, and delicious. They are all natural, low calorie, with zero grams of trans fat. I tried them plain to get the real taste, but I'm envisioning awesome appetizers with guacamole dip spooned on top with a black olive garnish. There are enough in the package to make a huge plate of appetizers.
Next, I opened the Old London Sesame Melba Toast package. There are five individually wrapped packages inside the box, with five slices in each. I ate a slice by itself and it's a lightly crispy Melba toast with just a hint of taste of sesame. I prefer spicy tastes and these are a bit bland, so I dipped the slice into some Chipotle dressing and that sparked it up for me. I love the rectangular shape and I'm envisioning an appetizer with sliced cherry tomatoes, covered with a bit of shredded low-fat mozzarella on top, then warmed in the oven for about five minutes. They are made from five grams of whole grain.
Next up was the Roasted Garlic Melba Snacks and these are absolutely fantastic. They have just enough garlic that I can eat them without a dip, but I bet they would be very dreamy dipped into a cold Italian marinara sauce. This one is my favorite of the four flavors. They are low in calories with no cholesterol.
Last up for sampling was the Sea Salt Melba Snacks. These, too, are really, really good. I love the salty-covered crispy cracker and a whole serving only has 7% of the daily recommended value of sodium. I'm definitely happy with these snacks. I can feel good about eating them and enjoy the taste at the same time. I bet these would be great with cream cheese smeared across the top, topped with a strawberry or kiwi slice.
Thanks so much to Old London for allowing me to sample their fabulous snacks. I'm thinking I might even make a meal of sampler appetizers for my family one night this week!
Disclosure: I received these products at no charge for this review. My opinions are always true.

  1. I have an issue with weight loss as well. I am in the same age group (although Male) and I have UC which means I take a number to tablets that make me put on weight. I am also a terrible snacker so these are really welcome. Do you know if you can get them in the UK?
